LIFELONG IMPACTS OF FAMILY SEPARATION TRAUMA – SILENT WITNESSING ?

Please do have look at the Blog section – in the ‘Paediatrics’ category! An interesting treatise from the May 2024 Paediatric Annals – on the growing iceberg of lifelong health impacts of family separation trauma in displaced children. Dotted around the world are millions of globally displaced children, as many ‘natural’ and manmade disasters – the obvious and the more subtle – tear families apart. Remembered a couple of much ‘casually’ loved old songs down memory lane – Tracy Chapman’s memorable old song ‘Fast Car’ & Bruce Springsteen’s ‘My Hometown‘ in context; and many poignant real life encounters in own professional life in past decades, and many close friends from many nations and walks of life, and from hundreds of thousands of miles travelled thus far. Sometimes one shrugs & digs down into savings (when one had them) when it looked like that would help ease the hurt seen outside as well as the one deep within, and at other times the fingertips met just the familiar rips in the well-worn & empty pockets, and many a time discovered that the dedicated pen on paper proved far worthier and mightier, wielded from bent knees and from heartfelt words poured upward and out… much like the Butterfly Effect. Have a think.
